Plant cups can be easily made from plastic drinking cups. Cups like the ones pictured are transparent so you can watch for root growth. Drainage is necessary so you will have to make a hole in the bottom. These cups are to brittle to poke a hole in, but if you use a soldiering gun, you can melt one in. Make the hole about 1/4 inch in diameter. Cut some round circles from scrap plastic (expired credit cards work well) that are slightly smaller then the bottom of the cup. Put these bottom circles into the cup before filling with the soil mixture. When it's time to transplant your developed clone, push a stick through the bottom and against the plastic circle to dislodge the roots. Remember to remove the plastic circle before transplanting. |
