TAKING GERANIUM CUTTINGS

USING ROCKWOOL CUBES

Geranium plants are easy to clone. They can be found in almost any nursery.

What you need before you start taking cuttings.

1. A small cup of water.

2. A clean razor blade.

3. Plant snippers

4. Presoaked rockwool cubes.

5. Clone Kit™

6. A "Mother Plant"

Cut a branch from your "mother plant". The branch should have at least two nodes. A node is where a leaf is growing off the branch. Put the branch in water immediately, this will prevent an air bubble from forming in the branch.
Take the cutting out of the water for its first trim. Clip off the lower leaves (as shown by the red marks). There should only be a few leaves at the top and only one growing tip at the top. After trimming put the cutting back into the water.
Now make the final cut. With a clean razor blade make a 45 degree cut about 1/4 inch beneath the lowest node. Now put the cutting back into the water.
Rockwool cubes should be soaked in water for at least 12 hours beforehand. Make a hole in the center of each cube with a chopstick or artist paintbrush. The hole should stop about 1/2 inch from the bottom of the cube.

If using a cloning solution, follow the instructions on the label.

TIP: Use a liquid of jell type cloning solution-keep away from powdered rooting hormones.

Push the cutting into the rockwool cube, at least one node must be under the top surface of the cube.
If the cutting is loose try pushing a small piece of rockwool into the hole next to the stem of the cutting.
Place the cube and cutting into the clone chamber. Spray both the cutting and the inside of the clone chamber with water. There should be water in the clone chamber tray but only enough to fill the grooves. Take a look at the "cloning time line" for information on what to do next.
